An Environmental Assessment ( EA ) is an environmental analysis prepared pursuant to the National Environmental Policy Act to find whether a federal action would significantly impact the environment and therefore necessitate a more elaborate Environmental Impact Statement ( EIS ).An environmental impact assessment (EIA) is an assessment of the possible positive or negative impact that a proposed project may have on the environment, together consisting of the environmental, social and economic aspects.The effectiveness of Environmental Impact Assessment is a subjective issue that has raised various viewpoints. Caldwell (1989); Wood (2003) argued that EIA process is effective if the practices and procedures are firmly within and it relates to the laws and policy and laws of the country or jurisdiction.
An environmental impact assessment (EIA) is defined by Canter (1999) as the classification and estimation of the impacts that a planned project could potentially have on various workings of the environment. These impacts can occur directly, as well as indirectly and include both environmental and social implications.Environmental pollution is affecting our lives physically, emotionally, socially, economically, and intellectually. It has become a major worldwide issue which cannot be solved by the effort of one. We should do our best in order not to put the end to the existence of all living things on earth.
